The Douglas County Nebraska Sheriff's Office, 3601 N. 156th Street, Omaha, NE. 68116 (www.omahasheriff.org) is now hiring for full-time Deputy Sheriff positions. Deputy Sheriffs work various 24-hour shifts seven days a week in the following areas: Uniform Cruiser Patrol, Courtroom Security, K-9 Unit, School Resource Officer, Trafiic Unit, Criminal Investigator, Field Training Officer, Fugitive Warrant Division, Polygraph Operator, Terrorism Task Force, Vice and Narcotics Investigations, Firearms Instructor, Emergency Services Unit, Nautical Services Unit, Arrest & Control Tactics Instructor, DARE Instructor, Cyber Crimes Task Force, etc.
Minimum requirements include: United States citizenship, 21 years of age at time of certification, High School Diploma or GED; must be of good character and not have demonstrated disregard for the law to a degree that the usefulness as an employee would be impaired; and a valid driver’s license.
Minimum qualifications include: in good physical condition; vision no worse than 20/200 uncorrected to 20/20 corrected, normal depth perception, no permanent or ocular abnormality including color blindness; and any indication of organic, active or irreversible disease of the ear shall result in disqualification. Hearing must be such that the applicant can understandably receive frequencies of normal voice range.
