The University of Colorado Boulder Police Department (CUPD) encourages applications for a Residential Service Officer! The Residential Services Operations unit (RSO Unit) provides residential security for the detection and enforcement of policy and criminal violations throughout CU Residence Life and Student Affairs campus locations. The RSO conducts active patrols and maintains a visible presence, offering the Police Department a means to actively detect violations and respond more readily to emergency or non-emergency needs in the community. This position will communicate between Residence Life Hall Directors, Resident Advisors (RA's) and night staff, the RSO Sergeant/Officers, Police/Dispatch, Fire, and Medical personnel to ensure both operational and administrative efforts are achieved to the safest degree possible during routine and emergency situations.

Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid Colorado Driver's License in good standing.
Four years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position. Education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Positions are subject to a background investigation, including criminal, financial, motor vehicle records background check; polygraph; an Excluded Parties List System check; reference check; and a drug screen. Pre-placement physical and psychological evaluations are also required.
Must complete and maintain all training requirements and policy requirements to obtain a limited commission within the City of Boulder. The commission will be granted to issue City of Boulder Municipal summonses, for violations including underage alcohol possession, and possession and/or sale of marijuana.
Maturity and a team-based approach while working with a diverse and highly active academic residential community.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially during stressful situations.
Ability to write quality and detailed reports.
Ability to efficiently and optimally work alone and work in all weather and facility conditions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook email, SharePoint, Office 365.
Ability to remain standing for extended periods of time, walk long distances, and climb numerous flights of stairs per shift.
Successfully complete ongoing skills training such as 1st Aid, CPR, Crisis Intervention (CIT) training and other requirements.
Effectively communicate using police radios to coordinate with emergency responders in all types of circumstances.
What We Would Like You to Have
Previous experience in loss prevention, criminal justice, military, law enforcement, corrections, or other sensitive security services, especially in an educational environment.
Ability to conduct investigations and complete detailed reports.
An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree or higher is preferred but not required.
