Don C. Hunter
Don Hunter retired as the Chief of Police for the Marco Island, Florida Police Department in June 2014. He previously was sheriff of CALEA Accredited Collier County Sheriff's Office, Florida, a position he held for 20 years before retiring in 2008. Commissioner Hunter also served as a member and Intelligence Chair for the state of Florida's Domestic Security Oversight Council. He is a member of the National Sheriffs’ Association, the Florida Sheriffs Association, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Police Executive Research Forum. Commissioner Hunter has a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree from Florida State University; is a graduate of the FBI National Academy; and attended Harvard University’s Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government. He has also been a an instructor and policy board member for the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute, Center for Executive Studies.
