James D. Brown
Jim Brown joined the CALEA staff in 1996 as the Associate Director, following his retirement as the chief of police in Streetsboro, Ohio for 22 years. He led the Streetsboro Police Department through national accreditation, first achieved in 1990, and reaccreditation in 1995.
Over the years Jim's responsibilities have included Team Leader training, quality control, and program development. He currently coordinates and manages the CALEA Conferences and is responsible for new program development.
Jim has a masters degree in public administration from Kent State University, Ohio, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Before joining the staff, he was one of CALEA's most active assessment team leaders and served as committee chair for the Third Edition of Standards for Law Enforcement Agencies Task Force. Jim is credentialed by the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) - International as Certified Protection Professional (CPP). He is an accomplished sailor and rides a Gold Wing motorcycle.
