Corpus Christi Police Department highlighted for doing more with less

CORPUS CHRISTI — The Corpus Christi Police Department was highlighted in a national publication — not for budget cuts it recently faced — but because efficiency has improved despite them.
The Police Executive Research Forum’s report “Policing and the Economic Downturn: Striving for Efficiency Is the New Normal,” looked at six cities where community policing and morale are up even as funding is down. Corpus Christi was the first of the six to be profiled, and the forum hailed former Police Chief Troy Riggs and current Chief Floyd Simpson as innovators in doing more with less. Read more.
