How much value do you place on organizational accreditation? While the answers may differ among agencies and areas, most agree that the benefits to the agency, their employees, and the communities they serve, make it a great return on the dollar. However, with the downturn in the economy many agencies have been forced to search for financial aid to assist in acquiring and sustaining their accreditation status. While the CALEA Agency Support Fund (CASF) has proven to be a tremendous asset to a number of agencies, the support offered is available only to agencies with 50 or fewer employees seeking CALEA® accreditation for the first time; those remaining agencies must look elsewhere.
For many years, CALEA Accredited law enforcement agencies have realized the benefits associated with such an effort are significant and many. From achieving added protections from civil lawsuits, to enhancing operations by ensuring that agency personnel are armed with clear and unambiguous policies and procedures, accreditation serves as a conduit that brings agencies to a level of excellence that has come to be expected of law enforcement in the 21st Century.
