Three Commissioners Leave CALEA Board
Three Commissioners left the CALEA Board at the end of 2007 — Ron Ace, Patrick Oliver, and Mary Ann Viverette. At the November 2007 CALEA Conference in Colorado Springs, Colorado, they were recognized individually for their career contributions to law enforcement and collectively for their invaluable contributions to the Commission.

Ron Ace served as a Commissioner since January 2002. He retired in June 2005 as Chief of the Concord (CA) Police Department after 30 years of service. Commissioner Ace held the position of Vice-President of the Commission, Chair of the CALEA Agency Support Fund (CASF), and was a member of the Standards Review & Interpretation Committee (SRIC) and Review Committee C.
Patrick Oliver served as a Commissioner since January 1999. He currently is the Director of the Criminal Justice Program at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. Before his retirement in 2005 as Chief of the Fairborn (OH) Police Department, he was Chief of the Grandview Heights (OH) and Cleveland (OH) Police Departments. Over the years Commissioner Oliver served as Treasurer of the Commission, Chair of the Investment Committee, and as a member of the Corporate Affairs, CASF, and Strategic Planning Committee, and Review Committee B.
Mary Ann Viverette was appointed to the Board in May 2002. She retired from the Gaithersburg (MD) Police Department in May 2007 after 28 years of service, serving the last 21 as Chief of Police. Commissioner Viverette was a CALEA Assessor and Team Leader for many years, and led the Gaithersburg Police Department to CALEA Law Enforcement Accreditation in July 1993. She actively participated in the revision of the 3rd and 4th Editions, and chaired the Standards Review Committee that revised the Standards for Law Enforcement Agencies, 5th Edition. Commissioner Viverette served as Vice President of the Commission and on several committees, including Chair of the SRIC, Strategic Planning, Investment, CASF, and Review Committee D.
The Commission bids a fond farewell to Ron, Pat, and Mary Ann and wishes them much success in their future endeavors. We are deeply indebted to them for their practical advice, leadership, and many hours of work and dedication to the Commission.
