CALEA TRI-ARC Excellence Award Presented
The third recipient of CALEA TRI-ARC Excellence Award is the Kansas City Police Department and the City of Kansas City, Kansas for its leadership in public safety. The 435 member department has been Law Enforcement Accredited since November 1993, and received both their Public Safety Communications Accreditation and Public Safety Training Academy Accreditation awards at the Lexington Summer Conference.
On hand to accept the TRI-ARC Awards were Chief of Police Ronald L. Miller; Captain Scott Breshears, commanding the Kansas City Police Department Communications Division; and Captain Vince Davenport, commanding the Kansas City Police Department Training Division. The Honorable Joe Reardon, Mayor of Kansas City, accepted the award for the city. Accreditation Manager Captain James L. Brown was unable to attend the conference.
The award name was selected to reflect the three accreditation programs (“TRI”) and symbolize the synergistic power and light created as the result of an unusual achievement (“ARC”).
The award is a cherry wood obelisk with one of the three full-color accreditation program seals imbedded on a side, while the fourth side identifies the entity receiving the award. Each of the accredited components receives an obelisk award, as does the parent organization.
