CASF Grant Recipients Announced
At the 2005 CALEA Spring Conference held in Birmingham, Alabama, the Commission’s CALEA Agency Support Fund (CASF) Committee selected three agencies to be awarded a CASF Grant for 2005. They are:
§ Roanoke City (VA) E9-1-1 Center, led by Superintendent Michael Crockett,
§ Munster (IN) Police Department, led by Chief Nick Panich, and
§ University Park (MD) Police Department, led by Chief Michael Wynnyk.
The creation of the CASF was announced at the 2003 CALEA Summer Conference. The purpose of the CASF is to award grants to smaller law enforcement, public safety communications, and public safety training agencies seeking initial accreditation, which would not otherwise be financially able to do so.
Under this grant program, selected eligible agencies receive a waiver of the administrative portion of their initial accreditation fees. The grants are primarily directed at agencies with 50 or less full-time employees at the time of application. CALEA accepts applications for the CASF Grant between September 1st and December 31st of each year, and the selection is conducted at the following spring conference.
The Commission has developed a grant application package that can be requested from CALEA Planning and Research Coordinator, Reginald Newell, [rnewell@calea.org or (800) 368-3757, ext. 39] or downloaded from CALEA’s website News & Events.
Congratulations and welcome to these three new CALEA agencies!
