The new CALEA Flagship Agency Program was launched at the CALEA Conference in Austin, Texas. The Flagship Agency Program was created to acknowledge the achievement and expertise of some of the most successful CALEA Accredited public safety agencies, and also to provide “flagship examples” to assist other agencies.
CALEA staff will select Flagship Agencies, by agency type and program, based primarily on their past performance. Selected agencies will be invited to exhibit at a CALEA Conference to showcase their agency materials, offer networking opportunities, discuss issues, and offer suggestions based on their experiences with CALEA Accreditation.
To be considered, a Flagship Agency must meet the following criteria:

Birmingham (AL) Police Department, accredited since March 1988 Kansas City (KS) Police Department, accredited since November 1993 Kent State University (OH) Police Department, accredited since November 1991 Laurel (MD) Police Department, accredited since November 1996 Lexington (KY) Division of Police, accredited since November 1993 Marietta (GA) Police Department, accredited since November 1998 Mesa (AZ) Police Department, accredited since November 1993 Plantation (FL) Police Department, accredited since November 1998 Renton (WA) Police Department, accredited since November 1991 Salisbury (NC) Police Department, accredited since November 1990 Upper Arlington (OH) Division of Police, accredited since November 1993 Valley Communications Center (WA), accredited since November 2001
CALEA Flagship Agencies will be announced at each CALEA Conference Opening Session and will also receive a certificate at the Celebration Banquet, along with being identified in the CALEA Update newsletter.
