Known for its casual and
playful nature, Austin is the playground of Texas. Situated at the center of the
Lone Star State, it stands as the gateway to the Texas Hill Country and the
Highland Lakes. It’s hip, trendy, and high-tech.
In the city where the
music never stops, live music plays at more than 100 venues on any given
evening. A little blues, a little country, the beat of rock and roll, and even a
few jazz licks puts Austin music into a distinctive music genre that’s difficult
to label. The largest concentration of music venues is found downtown in the
Warehouse District and along Sixth Street.
The conference site and
hotel is the Austin Hilton, a brand new four-star, full-service hotel, located a
short walk away from the Sixth Street entertainment district and Austin’s
bustling business district. To register online for the conference, please go to
the Commission website at

CALEA staff has planned an
assortment of quality training classes and workshops on topics of interest to
all public safety agencies and personnel. The Austin Police Department and the Texas
Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education are co-hosting
this 25th Anniversary Conference. A number of social activities have
been planned, including the “Host Agency Event” on Thursday night with a “Taste
of Texas” dinner, followed by a visit to the new Bob Bullock Texas State History
Museum, which features intriguing artifacts, interactive exhibits, multi-media
shows, and an IMAX Theatre. They will also be providing transportation to and from the Austin
Bergstrom Airport (ABIA) and the Hilton Hotel for registered conference
attendees. Visit the CALEA website for additional information on attendees’
transportation and planned conference activities.
