CALEA TRI-ARC Excellence Award

The CALEA Commissioners’ Award Committee has selected CALEA TRI-ARC Excellence Award as the name for the new award to be given to entities that, concurrently, hold all three CALEA accreditation awards: Law Enforcement Accreditation, Public Safety Communications Accreditation, and Public Safety Training Academy Accreditation. “TRI” reflects the three accreditation programs and “ARC” symbolizes the synergistic power and light created as the result of an unusual achievement.

The award is a cherry wood obelisk with one of the three full-color accreditation program seals imbedded on a side, while the fourth side identifies the agency or unit of government receiving the award.  Each of the accredited components will receive an obelisk award, as will the parent organization.

Eileen Schultz of the Wood Dale (IL) Police Department suggested the name of the award. Eileen will receive a $100 merchandise certificate to the CALEA Store.

It is anticipated that the first CALEA TRI-ARC Excellence Award will be presented at the December 2004 CALEA Conference in Austin, Texas.
