Your Commissioner – Sheriff Stanley Glanz
Stanley Glanz started his law enforcement career as a Tulsa, Oklahoma, policeman, attaining the rank of Major. During his twenty-three years of service at the Tulsa Police Department, Stan twice won the Award for Excellence from the American Automobile Association for his traffic safety programs.
During his career he received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tulsa and a Masters degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Oklahoma City University. Stanley completed the Southwestern Police Academy at Southern Methodist University and graduated from the 97th Session of the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy at Quantico, Virginia. He is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma, the Federal Bureau of Investigations’ Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar (LEEDS), and the National Sheriffs’ Institute.
Stanley Glanz was first elected Sheriff of Tulsa County in 1988, and has three times been re-elected. In 1999, Sheriff Glanz was appointed to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, where he currently serves on the Outreach and 25th Anniversary Committees and is the Chair of Review Committee E.
Stan serves on the Executive Board of the Indian Nations Council in the Tulsa area and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations Commission. Stanley is also on the Board of Directors of the National Sheriffs’ Association and the Board of Directors for the National Conference for Community and Justice. He was selected Oklahoma Sheriff of the Year in 1996 by the Oklahoma Sheriffs’ Association and was named Sheriff of the Year in 2000 by the National Sheriffs’ Association.
