Commissioners Appointed
The following three new Commissioners attended the
Portland, Oregon, Conference and obtained orientation for their new positions,
which becomes effective on January 1, 2003.
The
holder of two Masters degrees and a Doctor of Public Service from South Carolina
State University, Charles P. Austin, Sr. is currently a Commissioner and the
First Assistant City Manager for Public Safety for the City of Columbia, South
Carolina. He served previously as the police chief for the nationally
accredited Columbia (SC) Police Department.
A
twenty-eight year law enforcement veteran, Chattanooga, Tennessee Police Chief
Jimmie L. Dotson comes to CALEA after leading his agency through CALEA
accreditation. Jimmie has a Master’s degree in Liberal Arts from Houston
Baptist University. He served in Viet Nam in 1968 and is extensively involved
in community affairs.
Robert
Greenlaw is the first Commissioner to represent the growing Public Safety
Communications Accreditation Program. Bob is the director of the Norwest Bergen
Central Dispatch and 9-1-1, the first agency to receive CALEA Public Safety
Communications Accreditation. He has 40 years of public safety and emergency
management experience and was a CALEA team leader.
