Your Commissioner- Patrick Oliver

Patrick Oliver is currently the Chief of Police of Fairborn (OH).  He has previously served as Chief in Grandview Heights and Cleveland, Ohio and the Cleveland Metroparks.  His other law enforcement experience includes eleven years as a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.  He is a graduate of the Penn State University Police Executive School, the FBI’s Law Enforcement Executive Development School in 1993, and the Ohio Association Chiefs of Police Executive Leadership College in 1994.  He became a Certified Law Enforcement Executive (CLEE) in 1996.  Patrick holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice, and a Masters degree in Business Administration, both from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio.

Chief Oliver has taught law enforcement and business courses at Cuyahoga Community and Ohio Dominican Colleges.  He serves as a consultant and trainer with the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, and was recently elected President of the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police.  He was appointed a CALEA Commissioner in 1999 and serves on the Executive Committee as the Commission Treasurer.

Patrick and his wife Kimberly enjoy their three-year-old daughter Brittney.  He is an avid reader, likes to travel, is a fair golfer, and closely follows major professional sports teams.  The Olivers are strongly committed followers of Jesus Christ.  As a Christian, Chief Oliver believes that being a police chief is a ministry in which you serve the Lord through serving others.  Additionally he believes the goal of all law enforcement chief executives is to institutionalize positive change, which results in leaving the profession and the community better than you found it.  The motto he established for his police agency is “service with integrity.”
