Your Commissioner- John LaFlammeJohn LaFlamme joined the Edmonton (AB) Police Service in 1972. He was the Accreditation Manager for the Edmonton Police Service from 1986-1988 at which time the Edmonton Police Service became the first Canadian agency accredited by CALEA. After 23 years, John rose to Superintendent of the Human Resources Department. In 1995, John was appointed Chief of Police for the Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Police Service. Lethbridge received their first accreditation in 1998 and was re-accredited in 2002. Chief LaFlamme served on the 4th Edition Standards Review Task Force and was a CALEA assessor and team leader. He received an appointment as a CALEA Commissioner in 1999. He has served on the task force reviewing the Recognition and Alliance Programs. Commissioner LaFlamme is currently on the Standards Review and Interpretation Committee, and is the Chairperson of Review Committee C. Commissioner LaFlamme retired from the Lethbridge Police Service in February 2002 to accept an appointment as the Executive Director of the Regulatory Division of the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, an organization similar to the ATF in the United States. John is a graduate of the University of Alberta school of Business Management. His hobbies include reading, gardening, and sailing. John and his wife Pat, a retired teacher, have a son Joel. John is most proud of the work he did as a member of the Board of the Boys and Girls Club, an organization that provides assistance and coordinates activities for kids in need.
