Leaving CALEA after nine years was Chief Robert (Rob) Deu Pree of the Astoria (OR) Police Department. Rob served on several CALEA special projects, including the just completed Public Safety Training Academy Accreditation Program, and served as a past CALEA Executive Board member. He is also a past assessor and team leader. Rob is that mellow voice with a sense of humor that announces agencies at CALEA Conference award banquets.
Outgoing Commission Secretary John Cary Bittick, Sheriff of Monroe County (GA), also left the Commission after his nine-year term as a CALEA Commissioner expired. While on the Commission he served on both the State Alliance and Recognition task forces. John Cary, the current President of the National Sheriff’s Association, is known for his easy “down home” style, and his professional and political astuteness. The CALEA family thanks these gentlemen for their contributions and wishes them continued success.
