States Approved for Alliance Washington became the first state, followed closely by Oregon to join the CALEA Alliance. CALEA Commissioners approved their applications and the CALEA staff evaluation. In these two states, the local accreditation program is authorized to manage the CALEA Recognition Program in conjunction with the state program. Both of these states use the current CALEA standards and process and have officials experienced in the CALEA process. The goal of the Recognition Program is to permit smaller sized agencies, with limited resources, the opportunity to receive professional credentialing by complying with 96 high liability CALEA standards.
