Recognition Awarded
The Vienna (VA) Police Department was the first agency to be “Recognized” under CALEA’s new Recognition Program. Chief Daniel Boring said, “The (recognition) program was a way for his officers and employee to demonstrate they meet and exceed the requirements of a professional credentialing program.” The agency had an on-site assessment in August and was reviewed by Commissioners at the Burlington meeting. Chief Rob Geis, the on-site assessor said, “Recognition was a good intermediate step for the agency.” The Recognition Program contains 95 high liability and critical standards and is designed for smaller agencies with limited resources.
