Chief Ron Ferrell Chief Ronald Ferrell, Ph.D., was one of five assessors who scored 100% on the assessor test in Schaumburg, IL. Chief Ferrell said, "Assessors have to know what they are doing and the test was appropriately difficult." Ron has been an active CALEA assessor since 1984. He is credited by CALEA with developing the "compliance panel on-site assessment" which is currently going through a second round of on-site implementation tests. Dr. Ronald Ferrell is Chief of the Mason (OH) Police Department. Previously, he was the Deputy Director in Charge of Professional Standards & Training at the Bureau of Crime & Investigation in London, OH. In addition, he was Chief of Police for both the Dublin (OH) and Lebanon (OH) Divisions of Police. All of the agencies Chief Ferrell has been affiliated with are CALEA accredited. Ron is a 1977 graduate of the 108th session of the FBI National Academy and SPI's 13-week A.O.C. #65 course. Chief Ferrell graduated from Ohio’s Police Executive Leadership College, and Certified Law Enforcement Executive Program. He holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Ferrell was awarded his Ph.D. from Ohio State University in August 1997. Chief Ferrell is a lead consultant within the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police, Advisory Services Division. He has served as a consultant on twenty promotion assessments. Chief Ferrell is a past President of the 500 plus member organization of the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police. Assessors are required to pass refresher training every three years. The Schaumburg class had a 91% pass rate with an average score of 81%.
