CHIEF REVERING RETIRES

REVERLING.jpg (34188 bytes)Chief Andrew "Andy" Revering retired on December 31st after 33 years of service with the Anoka (MN) Police Department. Andy joined the Anoka Police Department as a patrol officer in September 1965. He was Anoka's first dog handler from 1967 to 1972. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1973 and Captain in 1975. He was named Chief of Police in January 1984.

Andy was an early proponent of law enforcement accreditation™. The Anoka Police Department was accredited in November 1989 and has remained accredited since that time. Andy is a nationally recognized police canine trainer and judge. He founded the Anoka Canine Program in 1967 and was instrumental in the growth of police canine programs throughout Minnesota. He also instituted the first Police Accountability Conferencing program in the United States.

Chief Revering has been a driving force on the cutting edge of law enforcement in Minnesota and will be missed. He intends to maintain contact with the law enforcement community in retirement as he focuses on writing, painting, and travel.
