Commissioner
News Past CALEA President
Ronald D. Nelson recently stopped by CALEA Headquarters for a
visit. Ron became a CALEA Commissioner in 1988 and was CALEA's
President/Chair from 1992 through 1996. He successfully led CALEA
through some difficult organizational and fiscal restructuring in
the early 1990's and is credited for his unwavering support of CALEA
and the initiation of changes that are generally associated with the
revitalization of CALEA. Ron is now retired from law enforcement and
he and his wife, Barbara, are enjoying their travels.

CALEA
extends its best wishes to Chief Robert "Rob" Deu Pree as he
retires from the Astoria (OR) Police Department. Chief Deu Pree once
said "There is a measurable difference between CALEA Accredited
Agencies and non-accredited agencies," and this was what prompted
him to become a CALEA Commissioner. CALEA benefited greatly from
Chief Deu Pree's nine years of service as a CALEA Commissioner from
1993 to 2001. Rob served as Commission Treasurer and on the
Corporate Affairs, Standards Review and Interpretations, and
Outreach Committees. He also served on the Agency Review, Strategic
Planning, and Public Safety Training Academy Accreditation Program
Committees. Congratulations and best wishes to Chief Deu Pree and
his family for a happy and healthy retirement.
