CALEA Agency News

• The CALEA Spring 2008 Conference Awards News Release has been added to the Commission Website. It can be found in the News and Publications Section.

• Twelve agencies were recognized during the March 2008 CALEA Conference Celebration Banquet, for having been CALEA Accredited for 15 or more continuous years. Click HERE to view the list of Meritorious Agencies. 

• CALEA has posted the names of the Flagship Agencies honored at the March 2008 CALEA Conference. Click HERE to view the list of agencies.

• Patrick Sullivan is the new Chief of Police for Goffstown (NH) Police Department. Goffstown Police Department has been CALEA Accredited since August 1992.

• The Acting Chief of Police for Park Ridge (IL) Police Department is Thomas Swoboda. Park Ridge Police Department has been CALEA Accredited since March 1993.

• Kannapolis (NC) Police Department's new Chief of Police is James W. Chavis. Kannapolis Police Department has been CALEA Accredited since March 2000.

• Steve Schicker is the new Chief of Police for Ballwin (MO) Police Department. Ballwin Police Department is currently in initial self-assessment for CALEA Law Enforcement Accreditation.

Police Accreditation Coalition (PACs) News

• The new Chair for the Connecticut Police Accreditation Coalition (Conn-Pac) is Mark Palmer of Coventry Police Department.

• Tony Ippolito of Maricopa County Attorney’s Office is the new President of the Arizona Police Accreditation Coalition (AZPAC).

• The next Georgia Police Accreditation Coalition (GPAC) meeting is scheduled for April 24-25, 2008. Click HERE for details.

• The Pennsylvania Police Accreditation Coalition (PPAC) meeting will be held on May 4 at Fairview Township.

• On May 16, 2008, hosted by the Staunton Police Department, the Virginia Association of CALEA Accreditation Professionals (VACAP) Meeting will be held at the Staunton Public Library 2^nd Floor Conference Room 1 Churchville Ave., Staunton. Click HERE for details.

• The Missouri Law Enforcement Accreditation Coalition (MOLEAC) will be holding a quarterly meeting at the University of Missouri Police Department in Columbia at 9:30AM on May 29, 2008. CALEA Program Manager Christie Goddard will attend the meeting and provide attendees information related to a variety of CALEA Accreditation topics.  Information to be presented and discussed includes an overview of recent CALEA SRIC decisions, procedures for conducting effective mock on-site assessments, and fifth edition standards for law enforcement issues. At noon, representatives from non-accredited law enforcement agencies in Missouri will join MOLEAC members for lunch. That afternoon there will be presentations on the history of CALEA and the Accreditation Process. A panel of Police Chiefs from three CALEA Accredited Missouri law enforcement agencies will also be available to answer questions from attendees. The meeting is open to Missouri law enforcement agency representatives only and seating is limited. • CALEA will have an Exhibition Hall at the Boca Raton Conference. The CALEA Exhibition Hall offers industry suppliers a marketplace where decision makers--Chiefs of Police, Sheriffs, City Administrators, Accreditation Managers, and Mayors--can view, examine, and compare products available for their use in Public Safety. • CACE Laboratory is now offered Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning. This workshop provides hands-on instruction to the primary users of the CALEA Accreditation Compliance Express (CACE-L, CACE-C, CACE-T, or CACE-R) Programs. Topics covered will include program navigation, hyperlink set up, reports building, developing task reminders, and performing system utilities. Advanced registration is required and enrollment is on a first come/first serve basis. Registration is limited to one CACE user per agency. CALEA Standards

• In early May 2008, CALEA will send complimentary copies of the Change Notices for the CALEA Law Enforcement, Communications, and Training Academy Accreditation and CALEA Recognition Programs' Standards Manuals and the CALEA Process and Programs Guide to Client Agencies. Additional copies of the change notice may be purchased from CALEA via the CALEA Publications Store or call 800-368-3757.

CALEA Accreditation Compliance Express (CACE)

• CACE Users, with an active CACE Update Service plan, can receive the latest CALEA Standards updates free of charge via the CALEA website by visiting the CACE Download Section. For more information, contact CALEA staff member Linda Phillips (lphillips@calea.org).

CALEA Assessors

• Assessors with Spanish Language Skills Needed -- CALEA is seeking to train additional assessors who are fluent in speaking and reading both English and Spanish. Potential assessors should be from agencies enrolled in the CALEA Process, and have at least five years of recent law enforcement supervisory experience. Applicants need the written endorsement of their CEO to be considered. To apply, send your resume and the CEO endorsement letter to CALEA Associate Director Jim Brown.
